Need a Doula?
We get a lot of calls from parents who expected it to be easier. They thought their birth would go smoothly and it didn't, and they are left trying to pick up the pieces. They thought they would have an easy baby (because who dreams about a fussy baby?) but their baby is just normal, doesn't like sleep as much as they hoped, and they are finding it hard to manage both the baby's needs and their own.
Many families can benefit from added support. Postpartum doulas are just one avenue that parents can use to get more sleep, recover from birth, sleep deprivation, or depression/anxiety, and get support with a baby that might be confusing or challenging.
Definitely get support from your friends and family. Ask for help with meals and errands. But don't overlook the benefits of hiring some help that can fill all the gaps that are left. Because you are worth it and you don't get this time back.
