Afternoon sunlight means more sleep for baby?

Anyone wanting more sleep?

Did you know that babies need exposure to sunlight in the daytime hours to help regulate their circadian rhythms? After 3 months of age, babies start to develop their own melatonin cycles and need light to help them distinguish the rhythms of the day and night. Then when darkness (or your artificially darkened rooms simulating darkness at this time of year) hits babies will be ready for a longer stretch of sleep induced by the melatonin release.

How can you help? Lots of light during the day, particularly sunlight in the afternoons, can help your baby regulate the sleep patterns of night sleep that parents so desperately want for their own brain function.
