Breastfeeding Baby's Poop...a colorful palette!
Working on visuals for my breastfeeding classes and realized I don't have an easy guide to poop colors without showing diaper photos (which is often too much for prenatal parents getting their first look at poop colors!).
I was inspired by a talk from Christy Jo Hendricks on building your breastfeeding class from #cappacon. She talks about passing around a crocheted diaper with these shapes, but since I don't crochet, this is what I can create to help parents learn the spectrum of colors that are normal for a baby getting human milk.
So important to normalize this as it can be shocker for the first time parent and grandparent, as well as confusing watching the colors change during the time frame of breast and chest feeding.
Colors we don't like to see? Red (blood), white (liver concerns), and black after days 2-3. These are good reasons to call your baby’s healthcare provider.
