Meet Nina
Certified Postpartum Doula & Multiples Specialist
Nina has loved her years of nurturing families; first as a professional nanny, and for the past several years as a postpartum doula. Her heart for a ‘strong start’ led her to doula work where she could serve families as they rest, heal, connect and begin parenting with support. She enjoys the partnership of working alongside parents as they nurture their little ones. Nina has worked extensively with newborns in and around Portland, near her extended family and community. With her love of working with multiples overnight (twins are her favorite), this lovely and kind doula has a lot to offer families who are looking for that extra TLC, either day or night. She is easy to fall in love with and want to keep as an extension of your family.
More About Nina
Legacy is not usually a word you hear associated with doula work, as our postpartum doula profession is still fairly new in the modern definition. (It’s actually ages old, often referred to as a ‘baby nurse’ or ‘night nanny’.) Nina was the first doula to join our team as the daughter of a Postpartum Doula. The apple didn’t fall far from the nurturing tree of her mother Maria, a CAPPA trained postpartum doula and daycare provider. Nina decided to care for families as well, and worked as a professional nanny for 10 years before pursuing professional postpartum doula support. What a joy to have someone not only with professional experience and extensive care under her belt, but someone for whom the model of a doula was lived out before her young eyes.
Now Nina is an experienced doula who has worked extensively with multiples and loves to support families as they begin, sometimes the night they come home from the hospital with tiny twins. Her heart for a ‘strong start’ with the nanny families she served led her to doula work where she can serve families even earlier as they rest, heal, connect and begin their lives with their new babies. She especially enjoys serving families with multiples, and has supported many sets, helping cement this love in her life.
One of Nina’s strongest skill sets is an ability to be patient and calm even in stressful situations. She values good communication as it brings clarity to helps to make trusting relationships.
Watching her mom work with fragile new mothers and babies gave her a model of love in action that Nina loves to be able to share. Her ability to bring this to families makes her a doula favorite, especially for overnight care with families looking to build good sleep habits for their new littles.
Clients love how Nina is sensitive to anticipating needs before a request needs to be made, is practiced at listening to others and helping with small things that make a big difference, and skilled at multitasking with both infants and toddlers, something many of our families are juggling. Nina enjoys the partnership of working alongside parents as a postpartum doula as they nurture their little ones.
Nina is generally available 3 nights a week for overnight support as well as some daytime care. While she works her magic with multiples, she also loves supporting families welcoming one baby, and those adding to a family where she gets to use her extensive tool set of toddler and bigger kiddo tricks at times too. When only working with one, Nina loves to prepare food and fold laundry for recovering parents as she prefers to stay busy and help families in every way she can.
When not serving families, you will find Nina curled up with a favorite book, taking aerial silks classes (her new adventure!) or exploring the beauty of her hometown and surrounding area near NE Portland.
