Meet Sara
Certified Postpartum Doula & Multiples Specialist
Sara is one of our master doulas and has over 14 years of experience working with birth and postpartum clients. She has multiple certifications, giving her a wide, diverse berth of education and experience. She is a wealth of information and can adeptly answer every question about newborns and their needs. Some of her strengths include working with multiples, preemies, special needs situations, and babies with colic. She has a depth of experience with parents experiencing postpartum mood disorders and is able to be a peaceful listening ear when challenges arrive. In her overnight work, she is especially skilled at developing sleep routines that benefit families for months to come.
More About Sara
As a veteran doula who is loaded with experience, Sara nurtures each family in a sacred way. As a mother of 4, Sara’s kids span elementary through high school, with one launched already, so she is in a busy season of meeting very different needs. Sara juggles this with ease, in the same way she manages twins or triplets; everyone gets what they need, even if that takes some serious extra work.
Sara has spent a decade supporting postpartum parents overnight, specializing in breastfeeding support, multiples and some special preemies. Sara is warm and friendly with a wonderfully nurturing approach to her practice, and families love the calm and gentle approach she offers with both babies and their very tender parents. She loves to teach her clients everything she knows to make them feel competent in their parenting skills and instincts.
With such a peaceful approach to doula support, Sara becomes a part of the fabric of family life as she nurtures parents to healing after birth. With additional training as a CNA and Medical Assistant, as well as an apprentice midwife assistant, Sara has been around birth roles for over 15 years. Favoring the overnight doula role in this season of mothering, she has worked with single parents, parents dealing with depression and anxiety, and parents without a lot of local support.
She has helped some of the fussiest of babies thrive while their parents learned all about their tiny one’s needs, and while they are also recovering from birth (or from having twins).
Sara loves how specializing in overnight support gives her the opportunity to connect with each family in a precious way, as she supports them through some of the toughest parts of parenting that happen in the middle of the night. She is currently available for a couple of nights a week and can do longer shifts when needed. She is a confident doula and brings peace and calm to each client she serves.
Kimberly met Sara several years ago during a Working with Multiples training in San Francisco, and they had been in touch for years as Sara planned her move to Portland after her 4th child arrived. Sara moved from the Bay Area to Portland to be near family in 2020, and she and her family are now enjoying all the Pacific Northwest has to offer, especially being close to mountains, rivers, and great schools for her kiddos. She loves the outdoors, often hiking, camping or fishing with family and friends. She also loves to ride a motorcycle—this busy mom does it all!
When Sara isn’t working, she is a dedicated mom and wife, helping her 4 kids with school, activities, and adjusting to post-pandemic life. One of Sara’s strengths is creating calm in her own household as well as multitasking, which is a skill she often brings to her work— and in turn teaching her clients to do the same.
