New technique for babies with reflux

Reducing Reflux abc doula.png

Learning some new things in an online baby course this week, and this was suggested instead of elevating the head after a feeding in a baby suffering with reflux. Never tried it...has anyone else?

The class said it was more effective then elevating the sleep surface, which is against the AAP recommendations right now anyway. I haven't seen the research yet, but it was reported to be evidence-based and seems like it could be easier and safer to do.

Side positioning should be with caregiver supervision of course, as it often leads to rolling to the tummy. They didn't give an amount of minutes, but I believe the goal would be to increase transit of milk to the stomach and lower digestive organs to reduce spit up.

I would love for some moms and doulas or NCS to give it a try and let me know if it works!
